Bipolarity

Bipolarity makes its cinema

Bipolarity: 3 works to discover

Are you wondering what is the link between these three movies?

Well, I agree, Homeland is a series. But what connects these two movies and this series?

Whether you've already seen them or not, I think you've found it. Indeed, it is the bipolarity. Indeed, each of these works revolves, near or far, around the Illness.

I watched all of these works and even saw Happiness Therapy several times. As for Homeland, I stopped at season 4.

In this article, I describe each of the movies and give you my opinion. Maybe I'll make you want to organize a short movie night.

Homeland

Admittedly, I love movies. And especially when they talk about a subject that concerns me. And there are not tons of movies or series that deal with bipolarity. However, those that do are particularly well done. Starting with Homeland.

I got to know this series through a friend who advised me to watch it precisely because one of the characters is bipolar. Neither one nor two, I went to my computer to see how it was handled.

To explain the series to you a bit, it's the story of a woman, Cary, played by Claire Danes, who works at the CIA. His job is to thwart terrorist attacks. And the series starts at a high speed since Brody, played by Damian Lewis, was taken prisoner for 8 years, and was freed by American forces. However, a source from Cary reveals to him that a person has been “returned” and therefore that an attack is being prepared on American soil.

I won't tell you more about the ending of the series and will let you take a look at it if you feel like it. However, what I can tell you is that the character Cary, is bipolar. And that has a huge impact on the plot of the series since, as we all know, bipolarity is complicated to manage, especially when you are under pressure.

You can imagine that being at the CIA, Cary's days are not always the easiest. Between field investigations and the risk of permanent attacks, it is a job that can touch your nerves.

This bipolar personality is very well represented and raises a lot of questions that the series has been able to answer. I am thinking in particular of the crisis management and How to react as a loved one.

Several times in the episodes, we see Cary in great difficulty. During these complicated phases, care and the reactions of loved ones are very well represented. I also think that the series highlights well The problems of the disease without talking only about this one.

So this is a series that I recommend if you like suspense and you also want to see how the main character manages his bipolarity.

Happiness Therapy

On a completely different note, I invite you to watch Happiness Therapy.

I admit that the first time I saw it, I didn't pay attention to what type of illness the movie was referring to. At the time I did not yet know it myself. It was only when I was told that this movie was about bipolarity that I watched it again.

During this re-viewing, I therefore understood the movie much better and the reactions of the main character. Pat played by Bradley Cooper is still head over heels in love with his wife Nikki. When he leaves the hospital, he is forced to go back to live with his parents. He then decides to get his act together and to see only the bright side of things.

Of course, this movie is full of twists and turns. Pat's crises are well represented and really show the complexity of managing them.

Between romance and description of disease, I really enjoyed this movie both for its humor and for the search for correspondence with reality.

Mr Jones

This 1993 movie is my favorite of the three. It tells the story of a psychiatrist who falls under the spell of a bipolar.

In this movie Mr. Jones is played by Richard Gere. This one is affected by bipolarity and has very intense phases both on the side. manic what depressive.

Throughout the film, we observe Mr. Jones in his various phases with compassion. The two main characters are very engaging which makes this movie very moving. It is a film that gives hope and joy of life because Mr. Jones is so communicative. This one is often in Manic period but you can also see how the depressive phases are severe and hard to live with after each mania.

Although the term bipolar appeared in 1980, in this movie, bipolarity is defined as manic-depressive psychosis.

In this movie, we are really immersed in bipolarity and in the life of the bipolar. I recommend it to anyone, bipolar or not. This movie makes you laugh and think at the same time.

So here are two movies and a series that may be of great interest to you. So give me a feedback on what you thought about it. I would be happy to discuss this with you.
